Vista Knoll Farm was started 1972 with 6 young heifers and a
yearling bull selected from a relatives Devon herd in Mississippi. Over the years the herd has been grown from within and improved by
careful selection of replacement bulls based on good temperament, good confirmation, including a wide heart girth and high average
daily weight gain, and the use of AI with semen from Rotokawa 688.
With the recent research in New Zealand on the genetics of the cattle producing healthy milk has come the classification of milk as A1 or A2. Vista Knoll has started testing for this trait in this old and pure herd. The testing has shown that Vista Knoll Devon’s have A2 genetics.
